Nash Systems Martial Arts

By Zengine | May 2, 2007

Catching a quick glimpse at a newly posted sign, I see a new Martial Arts Center has opened at 510-512 Throop Avenue, between Madison and Monroe Streets called Nash Systems Martial Arts. Seems like they are offering Tae Kwon Do and possibly to kids as well as adults (an assumption based on the observation of kids playing in front of the store). I could have sworn this was a hair salon last week.

Thank you for the comment on the new location for Nash System Martial Arts (N.S.M.A.) Karate Studio. I am a parent, student and staff member at the Dojang where we train in ITF style Tae Kwon Do.

The school is open to students beginning at the age of 2, Little Dragons (2-5 yrs), through adult. We are a competition-based school traveling to and winning at select tournaments throughout the north-eastern region. TEAM NASH is an elite mixture of martial artists ranging in age from 4 yrs - adult, male and female, ALL having placed 1st.

SHIHAN R. Nash is a 10-year instructor in Bedford-Stuyvesant, has trained a number of students to ranking Black Belt status, and continues to instruct and mentor over 250 students presently. N.S.M.A. Karate Studio serves as a valued community safe haven keeping children and adults committed to a healthy, disciplined lifestyle with side effects as increased self-esteem, mental focus and overall physical fitness.

    Our programs include:
    - Summer Karate Camp, 6-weeks at $600, extended day $750. A full martial arts training program, a selection of trips and events, pool and park activities are scheduled.
    - Privatized training sessions to area day-care and educational programs at a group member rate, training sessions are scheduled during the mornings and member access is limited. Rate is reduced.
    - Membership rate is $75 monthly and includes two, 1-hour, sessions weekly. Registration rate is $75 and includes traditional white uniform.

Thank you, Sister Kasha! I tried calling the number while passing on the bus, but I did not get an answer. I also looked to see if I could find a website for more information, but did not find anything. So I’m glad you raised your hand and contributed - THANKS! Is there a deadline for summer registration?

Hi again Zengine! The dojang is typically open for business early morning to early afternoon with a break between 1pm and 3pm. We then begin the programs through about 8:30pm. If class is in session the phone will not be answered. As for the registration deadline, we would like to sign up a small group (no more than 30 children) by June 15th. I would remind everyone of the old addage, “The early bird gets the worm.” And yes Mr. Johnson, this is a black-owned business. Website still under construction…will advise upon launch.

Blessings. Stop by any Tuesday or Thursday evening (6:30 - 7:30) to view the adult class in session. See you then!
