At Play in the Fields of the Lord: A Visit to Warsoff Park

I found a rather rustic park in our neighborhood. It’s a secret park, so I hope that my posting about it won’t cause it to get overcrowded with visitors. The park is located between Warsoff and Nostrand just north of Park Avenue. It’s a great place for those of you who are not close to the other parks in the neighborhood.

It’s filled with lots of green grass and there is artwork on both ends of the park.

There is also a good amount of seating there, so you can just sit and meditate.

The seating is located along the western edge of the park in the shaded areas.

The last time I was there the botanical garden was open. Nice.

One of the delightful things about living in a developing neighborhood is that you’re allowed to be slightly delusional.

Warsoff Park opens at dawn, closes at dusk. Entrances on Warsoff and on Nostrand.

now all it needs is a slew of condo hi-rises surrounding it to blot out the sunshine!

You know, the Marcy Houses are on one side, but the other three sides are just warehouses. Who knows what they will be converted into in another couple of years? First McCarren Park, then Warsoff Park!

    funny.

too bad there’s so much tagging and barbed wire. sorry, i don’t consider graff tags art. writing your “name” so loopy nobody can read it and creating graphic art with spray paint are two different things in my humble opinion. that said, i hope it’s allowed to remain a park, perhaps cleaned up a little instead of concrete plopped on it to make way for yet another luxe building.
