There is an empty building adjacent to this lot. The Chinese restaurant and the bodega on the first floor [...]

More Parking Options on Kos?
Tuesday, May 22nd, 2007There’s a whole lotta building going on at 31 Kosciuszko Street. This development is situated at the corner of Spencer and at first glance you might think that it will be yet another condo building. The Department of Buildings paperwork posted along the fence indicates that it will be a garage/gas station. [...]
Pulaski’s Peppermint Twist
Monday, May 21st, 2007It’s always fun to see brownstones with unconventional colors. It makes me wonder about the homeowner–how brave and creative you have to be to select a color like this when all of your neighbors have chosen more traditional colors.
The Lush Life in Saratoga Park
Monday, May 21st, 2007I was biking around the neighborhood this weekend and I came upon a park in the far eastern reaches of the neighborhood. Saratoga Park or Saratoga Square Park as it is sometimes called is located between Saratoga and Howard Avenues and Halsey and Macon Streets. It’s a little over 3 acres making it [...]
898 Bedford Avenue: Yesteryear, Yesterday and Tomorrow?
Thursday, May 17th, 2007I passed by this address often as I make my way north on Bedford, just before turning onto Myrtle Avenue. As a friend asked to be on the lookout for properties to lease that could facilitate a school, this “Warehouse Available” sign on 898 Bedford Avenue caught my attention. While researching the address [...]

The awning says “The Burger 4 Cents With No Nonsense”. Whaaa? [...]

Ol’ Dirty Bed-Stuy
Wednesday, May 16th, 2007I hate having to post this, but it does reflect a reality in our neighborhood: Bed-Stuy’s got some cleaning up to do. This week an article from The Daily News comes to us courtesy of our friends at Curbed describing our neighborhood’s penchant for trashiness. Apparently Bed-Stuy and Chinatown share the distinction of [...]
Habitat Homes in Bed Stuy
Tuesday, May 15th, 2007In The Changeling’s last comment of the previous post, Women Build 2007: Building Affordable Homes on Halsey and Marcus Garvey, I researched Habitat for Humanity’s other Bed-Stuy projects. Habitat for Humanity started building homes in Bed-Stuy in 2000, spearheaded by Jimmy Carter. I found a few photos of existing Habitat homes, and thought [...]
