The Lady of Bedford Revealed!

dsc00304.JPGÂ

A few weeks ago we posted a picture of a door with a beautiful image of a woman on it. The door is located on Bedford near the Bedford-Nostrand G train station. I always wondered what was behind this door. Was it an artist’s workspace? A person’s home? A secret society? A few days ago my questions were answered! I was walking along Bedford and surprisingly the door was OPEN. I immediately stepped in to see if I could find someone to question. The space had some seating and a bar in the rear. I met two men who looked like they were doing some work in the space (maybe painting? carpentry?) and I asked them if this was a lounge of some sort. They took me to the owner who just happened to be sitting in her car around the corner.

The owner’s name is Wendy and she said that this space is rented out to people who use it for special events, parties, etc. I didn’t get any pricing from Wendy, but she is also the owner of a space called Denim on Bedford near Halsey, so if you’re interested in using this space you might be able to get more information about it at Denim. Â

    Ah! Finally!

I will say though, I don’t know what kind of “parties” people are renting this for but in the past few weeks there were a couple of not-so-friendly looking people smoking joints outside of it at around 10 at night on a weeknight. I mean, a little pot is no big deal but they made me feel a little sketched out walking home from the train…

That’s so disappointing to hear. This place is located literally two steps from the train station entrance. I hope that it is not catering to sketchy people.

Ok, this might be wishful thinking, but were those ganja-smoking individuals you saw standing around attending a party in this lounge or were they just the average ganja-smoking individuals waiting to catch the B44?

  3. Mortimer says:

What are we talking about when we’re talking about sketchy?

  4. The Changeling says:

I use the term “sketchy” very broadly, and I use it to refer to the type of people who don’t think twice about committing crimes.

I cant say 100% that they were from inside, BUT the door was wide open and they were milling around it. I live on Lafayette basically on the corner of bedford (on the block between bedford and nostrand) and its not the first time I’ve seen the door open and seen people being weird
They could be waiting for the bus…but it seemed unlikely.
