On Thursday, June 28th, the organization Bed-Stuy for Obama will be hosting debate-watching parties at two locations in the neighborhood: Common Grounds Cafe and Bread-Stuy Cafe. The debate will be moderated by Tavis Smiley (Tavis Smiley, PBS) and broadcast from Howard University.Â
This is a great opportunity to enjoy the wonderful food at Bread-Stuy and Common Grounds, to commiserate with friends over the presidency of the last 7 years (will there be liquor available?), and to wipe away the tears and be optimistic about the prospect of new face in the Oval Office. I will definitely be there.
Event:Â Democratic Debate-Watching PartyÂ
Date: Thursday, June 28th
Time:Â The event starts at 8:30 p.m.
Locations (2): Common Grounds Cafe and Bread Stuy Cafe
Common Grounds is located at 376 Tompkins Avenue between Putnam and Jefferson.
Bread-Stuy is located at 403 Lewis Avenue between MacDonough and Decatur Streets
Can’t wait until June 28th to discuss politics with neighbors? Then check out the intelligent and insightful political analysis on You’re No Jack Kennedy.

Thanks for the shout-out, Changeling. Judging by the glowing reaction we’ve gotten in recent weeks as we hand out Obama info, the neighborhood sure seems excited about the upcoming campaign. Whether you’re a committed Obama-er, undecided or still pining for a Newt Gingrich comeback, the parties should be a blast. — Dan
