Best Pool in the Neighborhood?

By The Changeling | July 2, 2007

A reader recently contacted me to find out which pool in the neighborhood is best. I haven’t been to any of them, so I thought I would ask readers what their favorite swimming pools are.Â

The city website has information on the location of the pools associated with NYC parks and recreation here: pool information and they also have learn-to-swim programs that are free for kids. So which pool in (or close to) our neighborhood is the best? Have any readers tried the Bed-Stuy YMCA pool?

I’d say the metropolitan pool at the corner of Bedford and Metropolitan in Williamsburg. Its not in Bed-Stuy but if you are near the G, its pretty convenient. Always clean and warm.

    Anyone else have any ideas?

I need to learn how to swim for a mini triathlon in August and saw that the Bed-Stuy Y has a big pool and swimming classes. As an addition to OP’s post, any information on swimming classes in Bed-Stuy and Clinton Hill would be awesome!

i simply love the red hook pool. the kiddie area is great and larger pool is perfect. it has a lap area sectioned off from the splashing area. my 2.5 year old loves when we go. two thumbs up to red hook!

Well, Nia and Candace had their first swimming lesson today at the Kosciusko pool and give four thumbs up! Just as fun as Red Hook! There’s a kiddie pool too.

I would like to know from someone or anyone who can tell me how can I post a photo of a beautiful wall mural of Martin Luther King and Malcolm X on this site. Help me if you can, Somebody

Just email the photo along with the information indicating the location of the mural. Make sure that any images are high quality and that the picture is taken within the Classon, Flushing, Broadway and Fulton borders (i.e. within Bedford-Stuyvesant). thechangeling@bedstuyblog.com

We represent residents, homeowners, business owners and anyone interested and dedicated to the happenings in Bed Stuy. Caught between Clinton Hill and Bushwick, south of Williamsburg, but north of Restoration Plaza, we were starved for some local focus and decided it was time to do it ourselves! Thanks for reading.
