Cooking Classes at the Sankofa Center for Health and Healing
By The Changeling | July 23, 2007
A few weeks ago I saw an excellent cooking demonstration by Madea E. Allen. Madea is member of the Bed-Stuy CSA, and she has been giving free cooking demonstrations in front of the Magnolia Earth Tree Center for CSA members and others interested in healthy cuisine. These demonstrations are helpful because they teach the non-cooks among us how to use the veggies that we receive weekly from the CSA.
The demonstration I attended taught me how to use Swiss chard (something I had never seen or heard of before joining the Bed-Stuy CSA). Madea is an amazing cook, and the dish she prepared using Swiss chard was delicious. (We were fortunate enough to get the opportunity to taste the final product when she finished.)
Madea teaches cooking classes at the Sankofa Center for Health and Healing, so if you are interested learning new ways to prepare healthy foods you should definitely register.

Swiss chard? Go ahead and rename this blog, a more appropriate name would be “Changeling’s Slow and Steady March Into the Land of Booji.”

what is “booji” anyway? is it the new “yuppie?” or godforbid “buppie?” (remember buppie?)

Swiss chard is about as “booji” as spinach, it doesn’t come from Sweden or Switzerland.

Changeling, I wanted to thank you very very much for suppporting me in my efforts of spreading the word about my cooking demonstrations and classes. It is my intention to radiate health, wellness and vitality into the community and what better way to do this than by inspiring people to nourish themselves through high quality foods.
Check out my artcle in Lavish Magazine (www.lavishmagonline.com) on wholesome nutrition to beat the summer heat!
Blessings,
