On my first visit to the Farmers Market, a trio of brightly colored quilts caught my eye, hung on the chain link fence surrounding the schoolyard. I remembered there’s a weekend flea market there, and decided to check it out on my next visit.

I present: a visual trip through the Lewis Avenue Flea Market.

Quilts

The quilts are the work of Ms Lil (below) who lives in the senior housing on Quincy St and makes not just pillows and patchwork, but also silk flowers and crocheted items (you can see some of them in the top photo). You can reach her at (718) 627 2709. I think she has a great eye for color!

Next to Ms Lil is Celeste Glascoe-Njoku, who offers all kinds of gift baskets, trunk and hampers. She also teaches gift-basket, candle- and soap-making workshops and organizes “girls’ night out” parties. She can be reached at giftspecialty@aol.com or 718 453 0646; website: http://www.specialty-giftbaskets.com.

Continuing around the corner is Mrs Miller (Martha) who makes crocheted items for adults, kids, and dolls. You can look through a collection of photographs of items she’s made and I bet she would do custom work as well. She can be reached via email: bellmartmil@yahoo.com. Mrs Miller definitely has a way with stripes!

But wait–there’s more.

To be continued tomorrow with the rest of the vendors!

Hey, just curious is this every weekend? And on Lewis between what and what? That green knitted poncho and scarf set in the front is fantastic! Thanks!
