New Fave Mural: Chained Man

I spotted a new mural on Throop between Quincy and Gates. There is a ghostly hooded figure at the bottom left that unfortunately was blocked at the time I took the photo. It is on the side of the C-Town and I wonder how long has that been there? If it has been there, I don’t know how I missed it. If it is new, I still don’t know how I never noticed it being painted. Anyway, I love it!

It’s a composite of scenes from “300″. The parts you cropped off the right and left hand sides give a little more context.

I was on the bus and too close to the mural to capture it all. I will follow up with a complete image. Do you know if this was recently done? Thanks!

Yes it’s from 300 and the artist did an exceptional job!!! I believe it was recently done.

    what’s 300?(i don’t get out much obviously!

  6. Richard says:

I don’t understand why that mural is there? 300? Huh? What does that have to do with anything? Yes, the artist(s) did a great job, but why a 300 mural in Bed-Stuy?

  7. Zengine says:

Hi Michael, “300″ is a movie that premiered this past spring, around March. It is an IMAX epic tale of the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 B.C. between 300 Spartans against 1700000 Persians. I didn’t see the movie, so I didn’t recognize the scene. Hence, Richard’s question why a mual depicting a scene from this movie in Bed Stuy.

I still want to take photos of the entire mural, but since I pass this mural on the bus, there is always an obstruction. The name “C-Town” does appear on the right of the mural, away from the action.

i think it makes perfect sense…there are only like 300 native Bed-Stuy residents left to fight the gentrifing masses.
