New Organic Market on Halsey!
By The Changeling | August 7, 2007
A reader emailed me about a new organic market on Halsey. At first I thought she must be mistaken, but she insisted that it was indeed there. A few days ago I headed over to check it out for myself.
The Jamal & Prince Organic Market is located on Halsey just west of Stuyvesant. When I dropped in I didn’t get a chance to chat with Jamal or Prince, but I did get a chance to speak with their father who was working in the store when I visited. He was so kind and he was very patient as I bombarded him with questions about some of the products in the store. He said that the store had been open for about three weeks and it was open daily.
I saw many things that I liked in their selection. In fact, I scored some much-needed bulgar wheat as well as some agave syrup that I use as a sweetener. The selection included a few gluten-free products, natural juices, dried fruits, etc., but the store was not fully stocked when I visited. Fortunately Mr. Prince said that they will be getting more inventory in very soon. In the meantime for those of you who have been longing for an organic market in your corner of the neighborhood for years, this is your chance to get over there and tell Jamal and Prince exactly what you’d like for them to have in stock. I’m sure that they will try to provide the foods that people are most likely to purchase, so get your requests in now!

that’s great news, plus it’s close to my side of bushwick! that should ease the burden of my vegan foraging.

I come from Chicago to visit my daughter in BedStuy often.I always have to hop the train and go to Whole Paycheck (sorry I mean Whole Foods) to obtain a few of my stapels. This will be great. I will be in town for the Caribbean Carnival this weekend and will check it out.
