…hipster enclave according to New York Magazine’s fall real estate preview. Here’s what the mag had to say about our nabe:
The Next…
…HIPSTER ENCLAVE
Bedford-Stuyvesant
The word’s been out on Bed-Stuy’s brownstones for awhile, but in the past year the neighborhood has been attracting the asymmetric-haircut set. That’s largely thanks to a spate of competitively priced new construction…[read more]
Clearly this is mostly a North Stuy phenomenon. I’ve noticed that the part of Bed-Stuy serviced by the G train line looks like it’s getting more and more Clinton Hill and Williamsburg “spillover” as each month passes. I have no problems with this trend, especially if it means that maybe one day those elitists at Fresh Direct will finally decide to deliver to the Bed-Stuy sections of 11206 (they seem to think only the Bushwick section of 11206 is worthy of their fine goods and services). Maybe by spring the North Stuy will be The Next…
…place to get a decent grocery store.

yes to better supermarkets!
brownstones to the south, new construction to the north, what about the middle?

Forgive me for not mentioning Mid-Stuy! A neighborhood this large has a different vibe (and different needs) in every section. Since Bed-Stuy is shaped like a trapezoid, I’m going to start referring to specific quadrants when I’m referring to a area’s need. There will be a northeast, northwest, southeast and southwest. Not sure what the boundaries will be without looking at a map…

If you click on [read more] it will take you directly to the blurb–I guess that’s a hint that it’s not easy to see in the post!

I clicked on the link to NY Mag and went to the front page and read all about Paula Zahn’s marital issues. It was really hard to find the link to the Bed-Stuy blurb from there! I didn’t see the direct link you posted till later.

oh, please-it’s far from over-just getting press by a writer who probably lives here…and so what? they’re right.
pratt hipsters have always been around–only back in the day they rented entire houses in fg for 1500 a month. no one would set foot past classon…it makes perfect sense that anyone with any vision would live here. it’s diverse, close to the city, the buildings are beautiful, and crime is down. nyc will continue to grow and grow-”hipsters” live in places that are cool before the wealthy, less cool, masses ( think fg and dumbo) move in and take over.
