dsc00978.JPGWe’re four and a half weeks away from the Bed-Stuy 10K, so it’s time to do another post about running. A reader wrote in to find out if there were good places to run in the neighborhood and to find out if there were any active running groups around here.

When we last discussed running, some of you posted that you run regularly and that you were open to running with a group. Has anyone formed a Bed-Stuy running group yet? If so, please post the meeting time and location below. If you’re interested in joining a neighborhood running group, post a comment. Maybe we can organize a small running group that meets regularly.

For all of those runners out there who are interested in running (or walking) in the 26th annual Run/Fun Walk, you can download the application here. If you register by September 14th the fee is $15 for adults and $10 for children under 17. Registration is $20 on-site. For more information about the 26th Annual Run/Fun Walk, contact Deborah Jones at 636-6972 or djones@restorationplaza.org.

I suggest eyeballing or insulting any group of men hanging out in front of any corner bodega and then just give yourself a few feet headstart.

That’s okay whenever you want to practice sprinting, but I was hoping to see a group formed that would do long runs on a weekly basis.

I was wondering if anyone knew of a Bed-Stuy Boot Camp. I heard of rumors about it, but couldn’t find it anywhere…

I run a lot and would be up for joining a local running group.

i’d also be interested in hearing more about a running group … especially if there’s a good, sage, well-lit place to do some evening runs as the days get shorter!

The Bed-Stuy Boot Camp was run by Will at Food for Thought. Not sure how to reach him since the cafe has been closed but the folks at Bread Stuy used to participate so they may have a contact. Also, the track at Boys and Girls High School is open to the public daily from 6-9 (check times). Gets crowded at times but nice.

Can we set a time to meet at the Boys and Girls track as early as Monday to get some work in before the 10k on 10/7?

I’m months away from 10K shape but I’d run Monday. What time and where’s the Boys and Girls track? I just moved to the neighborhood this week.

The track is on Alantic between Utica & Troy behind the school which faces Fulton.
