Très Chic Boutique Defines Style in Bed-Stuy
By The Changeling | October 15, 2007
In the southern part of Bed-Stuy, on Marcus Garvey Boulevard between Macon and MacDonough, there is an adorable boutique called Très Chic Boutique and Accessories Lounge. The owner, Kishana Holland, is a Bed-Stuy native who gave up her lucrative career at a major financial firm to realize her lifelong dream of owning her own business. She combines her stylish taste with her business know-how (she’s got a business degree from Morgan State) to create a quaint little boutique that makes a wonderful addition to our neighborhood.
Très Chic Boutique carries moderately priced women’s and men’s apparel with an emphasis on accessories. I didn’t get a chance to look at the men’s clothes, but I did browse her women’s selection and I liked what I saw. What I loved about Kishana’s shop is that as soon as you walk in it is evident that she understands style. On the day that I visited I saw a beautiful modern-looking Vera Wang dress as well as a couple of outfits in her display window that showcased her eye for vintage style. Kishana’s goal was to create “a place where busy women can relax and shop in an inviting atmosphere without the long lines and crowds that plague larger department stores.” I think she’s reached her goal.
The boutique features Kishana’s very own millnery line, K.Holland Millinery Designs. Each one of her designs are original and one-of-a-kind, and they come in a wide array of styles including pillboxes, lampshades and large brims.
I was amazed to find out that she also offers personal shopping services as well as image and make-up consultations. These services are geared toward helping people with their wardrobe selection or assisting them in updating their look with a head-to-toe makeover. On top of all of that, Kishana’s found time to start her own style blog called, naturally, Très Chic Style, where she discusses the world of fashion and entertainment.
I had a wonderful time at the boutique, and I’ll definitely be back to before the holidays. What I really liked about Très Chic Boutique is that it reminded me of the small shops that my mother used to visit when I was a child. I remember when I was about 4 or 5 years old a couple of times each month we would hop in the car and ride to the downtown area of our small town. There we could find a handful of boutiques carrying high-end, high quality items. The owners of these shops could be found working behind the counter and they went out of their way to provide top-notch customer service. Très Chic Boutique reminds me of all that was great about those places. If you haven’t already, visit Très Chic Boutique. You won’t be disappointed.

This is wonderful! I am not a fashionista, but this is a great addition to the neighborhood.
Perhaps I need her image consulting services?!
I wish Kishana the best of luck.

Congratulations to Kishana. I wish her much success. Nothing more rewarding than working hard to make your dreams become a reality.

If you’re going to name your new store in a foreign language, you should at least get it right: it’s “très” chic, not “trés” — hope the owner didn’t spend too much on signage and cute little branded shopping bags. (The place looks très cool otherwise!)

I think she left the accent off of the signage altogether, but I can’t be sure. French is my second language and I totally spaced out and didn’t catch my own error when I typed it!

There! I change them all to an accent grave. If my French teacher knew I’d made that mistake, she would have a heart attack…

Good to know it was probably just on this site and not at the store itself that the French language mistake was made. We’ll just have to hope your French teacher doesn’t read this blog….!
