Another Red Dot Special?

I recently received this excellent photo from Leo of deLeon Realty on Hancock. (Thanks, Leo!) The subject line of Leo’s email was “Another Red Dot Special?” At first I had no idea what he meant, but once I opened the pic it became clear that there might be another garden in our neighborhood experiencing “Targetification.” Leo said that this garden is on the 400 block of Hancock and apparently it has started sprouting red dots like another community garden mentioned on a previous post. This garden looks really nice. Is this another neighborhood improvement from the red retailer? If so, it looks like we better start getting used to red circles, y’all. Apologizes go out to any residents who detest the color red.

I noticed this garden a few weeks ago and it looks really nice, I wish I had a key. If target is indeed shelling out funds to make empty lots in BedStuy visually appealing I’m all for it and I have a list of lots that would benefit, starting with one on my block that is keep clean but would really be amazing landscaped. Does anyone know how to contact the responsible parties for the empty lot makeovers?

HalseyTT, ya got me on that one. I can’t seem to figure out who you should call. It is my understanding that both of the makeovers that I posted about were of community gardens (not vacant lots), so I’m going to assume that NYC parks and recreation has something to do with getting the sponsorship to redevelop them. The process for getting random vacant eyesores redeveloped is beyond me. Wouldn’t it be nice if every abandoned lot in Bed-Stuy were cleaned up?
