Open Houses This Weekend

dsc00984.JPG

The building above is located at 580 Marcy Avenue (at Vernon Avenue) and it has recently been turned into condos. I’ve been passing by this site frequently and watching the developer take a run down pre-war building and make it into something really nice. Check out the interiors by clicking over to the Corcoran website. The prices are not bad given what’s out there and the interiors are pretty cool (I’m a fan of exposed brick). The Corcoran folks will be having an open house on Sunday, November 11th (11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.). If you decide to drop by the open house, please report back.

The Shaker House Condominium

Many of you expressed interest in the Shaker House Condominium. Good news! You’ll have the chance to check them out this weekend. They will be holding an open house on Saturday, November 10th (12:30 – 3:00 p.m.) and Sunday, November 11th (12:30 – 3:00 p.m.). If you are in the market for a condo in Bed-Stuy, I strongly suggest that you visit the Shaker House Condominium. They’re absolutely beautiful.

Marcy ave. building looks a little odd from the outside, like it can’t get it’s theme together. Inside the units looks pretty nice, with simple decor, love the tile in the bathtub, basically it’s a 1 br unit, seems a little high to me, and maintenance isn’t that low.

Shaker House – I love this concept. Right outside of historical district and what a different theme to have in the middle of BedSty!

On the Marcy building I thought the price was OK, but I agree that the maintenance charges are about $100 too high.

There’s a lot of square footage on Marcy, but I’m not sure almost $400K is too much for a condo. In this area we’re just starting to see condos so why are they priced so high. I’m thinking $350K maybe. The ones on McDonough are over $400K but that’s for 2 brs.

I agree it’s an odd looking building on the outside for this kind of dough.

Shaker house does look nice, I have to get over there.

  4. anonymous says:

yeah for $400K can’t you get a single family frame house?

  5. The Changeling says:

Maybe in Wappingers Falls, NY, or Suffern, NY or somewhere far away, but ’round here? $400K doesn’t go but so far.

Amazing how we give up so much to live in the city. People generally have small bedrooms, small yards.

I’ve been to Wappingers Falls, no wonder why it’s so cheap – with a name like that!
