I do remember the place with the writing on it. It was a flat fix place and there were lots of messages about heaven and God along with two mangy dogs that would walk around the subway station all of the time. The Mynt should provide a surge of gentrification for this area. There are some frame houses across the street from the gas station there that are often for sale. However I think it would be beneficial to know the area you or others are in so that can provide insights and observations especially on these areas. Bedstuy is a big place, and we could be talking vaguely for years and years without pinpointing certain areas and what we think of them.
