RENTALS
Indiscreet Charm of the Proletariat (#4 below)
#1 — $3000 — 3 br: Someone sent me this listing and my mouth fell open, my jaw hit the floor and my eyeballs melted. 3K a month? I know it’s a 3 bedroom but there’s some sort of psychological barrier in my mind that prevents me from comprehending this. The kitchen is cool and it looks like a duplex. It would probably be great apartment for a share.
Lexington and Bedford Bedford-Nostrand G
#2 — $1400 — 2 br: This rental is very nice. You’d have to be crazy not to scoop it up. It’s on a picture book street in the Stuy Heights section of the neighborhood.
Brainbridge Utica A/C
PICK OF THE WEEK! #3 — $1080 — 2 br: You read it right! This baby’s RENT STABILIZED! It’s probably already taken by now. It says that it’s a block to the A train, but I think it’s really three blocks, although the C train is within a block. That’s a small price to pay when you look at the rent.
Fulton and Kingston Kingston-Throop C
#4 — $1700 — 2 br: Priced right but no charm! What’s the use of living in a brownstone in Brooklyn if from the inside your place looks exactly like the apartment being rented by the 27 year old manager of the Chili’s in Beavercreek, Ohio? I’ve seen this same apartment in so many states: Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, New Jersey, pretty much everywhere along the eastern seaboard. This is a soulless apartment. Still, the price is right so go for it.
Macon and Marcy Nostrand A/C
SALES
#1 — $724,000 — 2 family: This agent has one of the coolest names in real estate, I must say. He should make sure that his name is written all over his ads, but he may wanna rethink his headlines. This one suggests a clarion call for gentrification: “Bed-Stuy OPENS DOORS. Let’s Move the owner out!!!!”
Jefferson and Patchen Halsey J
#2 — $565,000 — 3 br: If you click here you will see the inside of The Townhouse on Quincy. Click on the link below and take a gander at the outside of the building. Quincy has several blocks where anything goes with all kinds of housing on the same block: new construction, frame homes, brick homes, brownstones. This townhouse is just another property on Quincy doin’ its own thing and ignoring all of the other homes around it. It looks good from the inside though.
Quincy and Bedford Bedford-Nostrand G
#3 — $689,000 — 3 family: I’ve been looking at this property for months. It seems so unusual, like it’s not in Bed-Stuy. Has anyone been to see it?
Herkimer and Kingston Kingston-Throop C
#4 — $549,000 — 2 family: I consider this area Weeksville, rather than Ocean Hill, but I decided to include it in the real estate listings today because I think it looks rather nice. With 5 bedrooms and 2 baths, I would have liked more pictures of the interior, but it looks like there are a few parts of the house that have not been totally stripped of their charm. I don’t have a real feel for the blocks surrounding this property, so I won’t hazard a guess as to whether it’s priced right.

Pick of the week is in Crown Heights, per the link. If it is on the park, it is not in Bed-Stuy. If it is on Kingston and near the A/C it is very close to Atlantic Avenue.
Sales #1 is overpriced in my opinion. Unless I am missing something, the link only has one picture shown twice. A very bad sign of things to come.
OK, before I sound like one of those crazy people on Brownstoner, I am out!

Sales #1 - if you go to “Roody”’s site, you’ll see more photos; the house looks like it’s retained a lot of original details. I don’t know why he chose to post 2 identical photos of the ugly kitchen on the CL ad, but I’ve given up trying to fathom the ways of RE agents.
Sales #3 - I’ve only seen this building from the outside. I’m surprised to see the listing states it was built in 1910 as it looks more contemporary from the street. In fact, it looks plain weird. But from the pics the interior seems kinda cool.

@Newbie2: The POTW is in the grey area between Bed-Stuy and Crown Heights, I think. Some say the border between the two neighborhoods is Fulton, and others say Atlantic.
@Alexa: I get that same weird feeling when I see sales #3. I really wanna see the inside to see if it makes up for the unusual looking outside.

Rental #1 has 3 bedrooms while good doesn’t warrant 3K - crazy. #2 Is a gorgeous block, love the fireplace and the living room, the kitchen looks so simple, nice, and white, and bathroom is attractive too although the border is crazy. Read the fine print it says “at least $1400″. #3 is a bargain but also says 1.5 / 2.00 bedrooms. #4 utilites included! But those floors are ugly.
Sales #1. Ugly pic they posted, and headline is asking for trouble. BedStuy opens doors, and are moving owners out! #2 ugly on the outside and ugly floors. They chopped up and made this house an eye sore from the outside. #3 Just plain odd, and who allowed such a monster building like this. #4 Some nice details, price is cheaper than others, they redid the outside facade. Could be nice.
