#1 — $1250 — 1 br: It’s a simple apartment that is close to the train. Of course, it’s the G train so maybe that’s not such a great thing. The black and white floor in the kitchen is kind of cool though.
Greene and Bedford Classon G

#2 — $ 1650 — 2 br: If you can get past the spelling errors in this ad, you might be able to consider this apartment (It’s in “Bedford-Stuyvesand” on a “quite” block. Please, lazy real estate agent, take the time to check your spelling.). I think I’ve seen this building. There are several like it in the area. I assumed that these units would be for purchase as a part of some sort of affordable housing program, so I have to admit that I’m a little disappointed that it’s just another rental building.
Pulaski and ? Bedford-Nostrand G

#3 — $ 1200 — 2 br: It’s priced right, and it’s got some nice glossy floors, but there is no laundry in the building (luckily there is a 24-hour laundromat nearby).
Van Buren and Lewis Kosciuszko J

#4 — $1199 — 1 br: French doors, funky lighting AND a fireplace? This seems like a really good deal. It’s been newly renovated and you don’t have to spend an arm and a leg.
Marion and Malcolm X Boulevard Utica A/C

#5 — $1050 — Studio: It’s cheap and it’s near the only conveniently located bank (Chase) in this section of the neighborhood. It’s walking distance to Pratt, near the train station and several buses. Not bad for the price.
Spencer and Dekalb Bedford-Nostrand G

Monroe Street (#2 below)

#1 — $239,000 — 2 br: This 1100 square foot condo looks like it is a good deal, but the maintenance seems a little high. There is an open house this Saturday from noon to 2:00 p.m.
Chaucey and Saratoga Chauncey J/Z and Ralph C

afro-pick.jpgPICK OF THE WEEK! #2 — $569,000 — 1 family: I really like the look of this house. It has some curb appeal and it is already set up as a one family. The exposed brick in the bathroom is pretty cool too. The problem is that they haven’t given us enough information in the ad–where it’s located is anybody’s guess. Let’s just hope that it is actually on Monroe Street and not in Philadelphia somewhere.Monroe and ? TRAIN?

#3 — $675,000 — 2 family:I love this cute little house! It has an owner’s duplex with three bedrooms and a one bedroom rental unit with an outdoor space. Although it looks a little on the small side, the reno seems reasonable. I’d grab this in a heartbeat if it were just a little cheaper.
Kosciuszko and Tompkins Myrtle-Willoughby G

the POTW is niiiiice. i’m loving the exterior. i could be wrong but i think i’ve walked by that before, feel like it might be in the “bedford corners” area. let’s hope this isn’t another POTW scandal!

#4 in rentals is puzzling me… i can’t figure out the layout. nice price, though.

the Monroe House is 1 house from the corner between Throop and Marcus Garvey, I’ve always admired it’s beauty.

#3 sales – you’d take it if it were just a little cheaper. Wow just a little cheaper from $675,000 is still a lot of dough for most of us.

Good pick of the week the front is so simple, but lovely.

#1 condo looks nice for the price, but agreed the maintenance is high. Plus it’s close to broadway and the sound of the trains. Big place though.

The POTW was for sale with Foxton’s for a while a couple of years back. I believe the price was 429k. It is at Throop. The problem is the backyard is small and is exposed. The block is not so nice. There are several houses that seem to be abandoned. I like the green door though!

Who cooks the supper on premises in rental #5? That alone could be worth it!

LOL, babs! I wish all apartments had “supper on premises.”

@Leah: I think that there is something about that door that really makes it attractive.

    @Sally: Re: #3 sales-Yeah, I wrote a little cheaper, but what I should have said is 100K cheaper! :)
