Flurries and holiday tunes from the pawn shop

Sometimes all you have to do is ask! A few days ago I was lamenting the fact that there was no holiday cheer to be found and suddenly it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. The best example of holiday cheer? This little pawn shop located near the Myrtle-Willoughby subway station. For the past couple of days, the guy in the pawn shop has been blasting Christmas carols on his huge speaker system. I’m talking about real Christmas carols, sung by heavy hitters like Nat King Cole and Bing Crosby. I passed by the shop on my way to the station and I heard Nat King Cole singing “A Cradle in Bethlehem.” Well alright! I was so happy that I stood by his door for a few moments and took it all in. I pointed to the huge speaker and gave the guy a thumbs up. He nodded and smiled at me. Best. Pawn shop. Ever.
