RENTALS

rental011108.jpg“Mirror’s” on Nostrand (#1)

#1 — $1800 — 3 br: There’s a place that people talk about on the Clinton Hill Blog–a place called “Mirror’s on Grand.” I’m not sure what it is (or was or was supposed to be), because I usually tune out the minute I see the misuse of an apostrophe. I think that this property should be called “Mirror’s on Nostrand.” Check out the bedroom and the dining room. Nice kitchen though.

afro-pick.jpgPICK OF THE WEEK!#2 — $2500 — 3 br: Step into your pink jacuzzi, chop your mesclun greens on the kitchen island and dine beneath the elegant cut glass chandelier. Step into Dynasty circa 1982! This place gets POTW for bringing back wonderful memories of the nighttime soap operas of my childhood. I love the deck and the jacuzzis in each bathroom. Unfortunately you’ll have to pay Dynasty prices for this duplex pad.

#3 — $4500 — 4 br: POP QUIZ! Which one of our architectural terms is shown here? It’s an interior shot of an asymmetrical bay front! (Shout out to Alexa 11221 for teaching us the terms!) This

SALES

sales011108.jpgPutnam and Marcy (#1)

#1 — $739,000 — 2 family: This house seems nice, although you don’t have a lot to go on. Given its distance from the subway, I would’ve thought it would’ve been a bit cheaper. There is an open house on Sunday so maybe you can haggle down the price a bit.

#2 — $424,000 — 2 family: 8-O
Vernon and Throop Myrtle-Willoughby G

#3 — $990,000 — 2 family + Commercial Space: This is the Romeo’s Grill building. I think I’ve walked by this building a million times and I’ve never seen Romeo’s Grill opened, so I was surprised to see pictures showing the place operating. Is the woman with her back to the camera actually ordering food from this establishment? Has anyone actually been to this place? Since the place is for sale is there any other type of business (other than an bodega) that you think will thrive on this busy corner?

Open House Alert:
83-halsey.jpg83 Halsey
A couple of weeks ago I included the condos at 83 Halsey in my real estate picks. I really liked them, so I thought I would give you a heads up on the open house they are having this weekend. The open house will be on Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. Head on over and check them out.

I LOVE THE PICK OF THE WEEK!!! also, i love any reference to 80s night-time soap operas. i can only hope you uncover a winery in bed-stuy one of these days so it can be dubbed falcon crest. well played, changeling.

on another note i don’t even know what to say about mirror’s on nostrand. i am sort of filled with glee at just how over the top it is. i imagine some 70s porno music starts playing the moment you flick the lights on.

I’m a sucker for detail, so #1 sale looks good to me. I’m also a sucker for a homes in need of love. If I was looking to buy, I’d rush right over to #2.

Laduchessa - too funny! These picks look great! As always thanks! On a related note, if anyone knows of an apartment for rent in the neighborhood for no more than $900 I know a wonderful person who is looking (she is staying with us right now).

For those of you who are heading over to 83 Halsey’s open house (and it is a great spot so I hope you try too!) stop by ours too at 145 Halsey. It is happening during the same times (see our ad with website link on the right hand ad column of this blog). Hope to see you all!

What a delight every week looking at pictures of these properties. Changeling thanks again!

#1. The mirrors are a little over the top, and I agree about some sleazy music maybe playing. It’s a little too sensual and modern looking for me. what happened to all those mahogany woodwork brownstones, aren’t they for rent or do people not trust tenants!

#2. Pick of the Week is very nice, but what a high price.

#3. I was getting nervous about the pop quiz, and by the stroke of luck the posting was deleted. Is there some secret connection between Changling, Alexa, and the person who posted this listing..haha.

    Sales:
#1. Love the details, and the doors along are worth a fortune. Sucks being far away from a train though.

#2. This seems like a good deal, but what’s the catch? It’s needs another $100,000 worth of work?

#3. Nothing like having rentals and a little business, but this place seems too out in the open for me. It’s like you are a target.

Amy: is your friend looking for a studio apt. for that price? Hey you can rent one of your places to her until all the units sell and make some money off of the empty units!

Sale #1 is not far from the subway at all. I live around the corner (on Marcy on the same block as the second house advertised in the realtor’s craigslist ad) and it’s one long block and 4 short blocks to the A/C–excellent station! A trains come every few minutes. Sale #1 is only half a short block further.

    Hey Sally,
She would love a studio! It seems so hard to find one without a broker fee, 1bdrms seem more common. If you hear of any let me know. And believe me, we would love to make money while they sit there empty for months(!) but we are already in contract on one (yippie!)and we all agreed we need to have the other empty to show it whenever without disturbing her. So she is staying with us - which I’m sure is a constant disturbance! :)

I love the detail in number 1 sales, and the cheap house on 2 seems reasonable. Amy I hope you had a good open house this weekend. Was it hard forming a condominium association, as far as legal fees, requirements, etc.?

You’re website looks great, good luck with the property.

Eek, #2 makes me wish I could buy NOW! What a steal. Stupid student loans and expensive taste in handbags.

I wonder why this house is so cheap. There must be a catch.

NYU for school, and $90K in student loans?

    Prada bags?

We need to introduce you to the 99 cent stores. Changeling, you should do a piece on the best bargain stores in the area.

Isn’t the good school, and good taste in bags suppose to equal a good paying job?
