Brownstone Books to Takeover BAM Bookstore!
By The Changeling | January 25, 2008
A friend of mine, Mike (who makes a mean rum punch and writes a cool blog called A Dash of Bitters) forwarded me some excellent news about our neighborhood bookstore, Brownstone Books. According to an article in Publishers Weekly, our very own Brownstone Books will be taking over the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s Bookstore! From the article:
Beginning this month, Brownstone Books, an African-American oriented bookstore located in Brooklyn, will take over the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s bookstore, which was previously handled by Manhattan-based Shakespeare & Co.

The store is going to stock books with an arts/theatre/performing arts focus along with current bestsellers. It’s great to see a Bed-Stuy business expand beyond the borders of our neighborhood. I wish all the best for the owners, Crystal and Walston Bobb-Semple!
