I like the way you think, carroll gardens transplant! But how do you take a stand against price creep? Live on the street until the prices come down? We're at the mercy of the landlords--you either pay what they're asking or you move to a basement apartment in Far Rockaway.

Quincy and Franklin for $2,500...me thinks they ask for too much. I have viewed the interiors, and strange shower fixtures and a view of the apartment building next door should having everyone concerned about inflated prices in bedstuy/clinton hill and brooklyn in general. Its a long walk to either the C or the fickle G.

don't be fooled by the photo of the week, it only represents the penthouse suite which was snatched up.

I am drawing a line in the sand and I hope you will all make your own similar stands against the price-creep. $2.5K not on my watch!

Sincerely,

The BK realist

@laduchessa: Wow, you do remember Space Giants! Yeah, it was on Ted Turner's TBS channel back in the day.

@Alexa: Maybe I've just been unlucky with the Tompkins Avenue bus. I always walk or bike for BLOCKS and never see a bus on that avenue.

@BedStuyGuy: Thanks for the compliment! I have never seen anyone coming or leaving that Space Giants building. When I've passed by at night, I haven't seen any lights on either, so it seems empty.

@BedStuyNative: I want Brainbridge too! Maybe we should all pool our money together and buy Bainbridge. Let's see--I've got $270.18. Can y'all get together the remaining $1,549,729.82?

First, your blog is amazing. So much better than Brownstoner, which is so over. The place on Stuyvesant is amazing! Too bad I don't have $1.5 million to drop...plus another $500K to upgrade the mechanics. The place on Franklin does look strange. I've walked by a few times -- I thought there was a stop work order or something. It doesn't look finished. Does anyone currently live there?

I can't believe that property on stuyvesant finally sold. It is a lovely property. Corcoran has been trying to sell it for a very long time and I guess it took significant price reductions to finally sell. I went to an open house last summer, but we could not see the existing tenant's apartment. It is a real beauty.

I'm almost positive rental 2 is listed by my landlord (I live on that block and am really curious as to what building that is!) one of the members of my apts management company (and a friend of henrys) asked me if I wanted a "new construction 4 br" for that price about 3 months ago, saying it would be done soon.
If so I can personally vouch for Henry's awesomeness as a landlord. He's an older hacidic guy (if its the same guy, again) and is super laid back and always very accessable. We had some serious problems with a roomie about a year ago (basically, he was the lease-holder and didn't pay our rent for 4 months without the knowledge of my room-mate or I!) and henry was awesome ans
A) Didnt evict us after 4 months of no payment
B) Saw that my roomie and I were in tears and didn't threaten or scare us (we were totally shocked and faced with 4 months of backed rent, in cash, being needed immediately after paying our other roomie the entire time)
C) Allowed us a week to get it all straightened out
D) Allowed me to resign the lease with NO hassle or credit check even after all that crap happened with aformentioned room-mate.
Basically, he's laid back and really cool. If anyone goes and sees this, post the address! I want to know where is it.

"A quick glance at the map says that it’s equally far from both stations, and that means that you’ll have to get used to walking a lot or waiting a lot for that Tompkins Avenue bus that rarely comes."

I've never had any problems catching the M43 (or whatever's on Tompkins) but it's the M15 on Marcus Garvey that arrives every 3 minutes or so. But then you'd have to walk when you go to Fulton.
