A storefront at 515 Dekalb (at Skillman) looks like it is getting a new look. I don’t remember what was on this corner before the reno started taking place, and multiple visits have given me no clues about the future of this storefront. I can only hope that it will be something that is useful and nice looking. They received a stop work order back in November, but it was eventually rescinded and work continued. Anyone have any ideas what this place will become?

I walked by this place a little while back and saw workers doing their thing inside. What I saw was really nice, even though it was a fairly small space. I wouldn’t be surprised if it were a new restaurant or something.

you people are always talking about eating or buying something…damn
The community doesn’t even support the established businesses the way they should. You fools are welcoming your competition that may well assist you in shuttering your own gates!!!

I don’t think anyone is hoping for another chinese food place, chicken place, liquor store of crappy bodega.

ms laduchessa if you read between the lines….
people talk about buying from the businesses and frequentiing the eateries.
Let’s be honest for a minute, what was the last business any of you even patronized in this community.
They did a post on the spa week and many of you spent way too much time focusing o “how much”, which is better” Stupid Fools!!
I can pretty much identify BS when I see it, Black people opened businesses in Bed Stuy with black dollars…no grants or grandaddy’s trust fund to fall back on.
Respect that…
You newbies come in whine and bitch about services, goods, food, doggie runs
attend a CB3 meeting, visit the CBO’s and see what differences you can make there.
Better yet, visit a business, patronize it with your dollar and tell soemone else how great the experience was.

Try circulating the dollars in a community you live in or are you waiting for an invitation..

anonymous, you need to stop assuming you know me, my spending habits,or my level of community involvement because you don’t. in fact, your generalizations and broad blanket statements based on nothing but your own assumptions about the people here make you look ignorant, angry, and contribute nothing to these conversations except to inject a little comic relief from your silly little outbursts.
how can you say in one point that we all talk about eating and buying stuff and then say we don’t support the community by spending in the neighborhood? you make no sense. also, the last time i checked spas WERE businesses.
perhaps you need to register yourself for an economics 101 class and learn a few things. when new businesses open up here it’s better for everyone including existing businesses. nobody is going to open up a business that they don’t feel is going to make a profit/fill a need. but i suppose you already new that, didn’t you?

that should say “knew” not “new”. whoops.
