Bed-Stuy Real Estate Picks 01/25/08
RENTALS
Quincy and Franklin (#3)
#1 — $1975 — 3 br: I liked this property because I thought that it had a good price and it was in a nice looking building (well, at least the front entrance to the building looks nice). The kitchen layout looks rather odd, but overall it seems worth the [...]

Bed-Stuy Arts Weekend
[ January 25, 2008; 9:00 pm; January 26, 2008; 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm. 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. ] I admit–last weekend I was really down in the dumps. I don’t know if it was the weather, or post-holiday malaise or plain old S.A.D., but I didn’t want to leave the house. Instead of going out and doing exciting things, I watched Korean dramas on my laptop (yes, I know–that’s pathetic).
However, this weekend things [...]
Nhojj Performs at bushbaby This Saturday!
[ January 26, 2008; 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm. ]
One of my favorite spots on Fulton Street, bushbaby cafe, has started a mini concert series featuring fusion, neosoul and spoken word artists. The lineup looks great, and the best part? The events are free! This Saturday, neosoul artist Nhojj will perform. Visit Nhojj’s MySpace page to get a taste of his smooth sound.
Nhojj [...]

Gnarly Vines Wine Tasting
[ January 25, 2008; 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. ] My experience at Gnarly Vines has been excellent, and that’s why I’m always encouraging people to visit the store. I’m a fan of sweet wines and ice wines (some of the most underappreciated wines in my opinion), and Brian and the staff of Gnarly Vines have always given me great recommendations based on my [...]
Ticket Quota Met, Case Dismissed
Back in November, we did a post on a Bed-Stuy resident named Robert who had a run-in with the police. You will recall that Robert and his partner were biking in the neighborhood, and they rode their bikes on the sidewalk briefly to avoid getting hit by the B46 and other oncoming traffic. [...]

Art Studio Space for Rent
They’re looking for a new studio mate (male or female) for a work-space at the Feather Factory’s Growing Studio.
It’s a $600 per month / 300 square foot art studio space just 5 minutes from the Bedford/Nostrand stop on the G.
The space is roughly a 15′ x 20′ studio within a 5000 square foot loft [...]
Tiga Jean Baptiste Performs at Le Toukouleur
[ January 24, 2008; 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm. ]
This Thursday, January 24th at 7:30 p.m. Le Toukouleur along with Cafe Lifestyle will be hosting a performance by Tiga Jean Baptiste Tchaka. Tchaka and his band will be performing a fusion of traditional rasin (roots) and rara rhythms with the Zimbabwean Shona Mbira, the West African djembe and the sounds of the Australian [...]
Hungry Belly Deli on Tompkins
A few nights ago I saw what I think is a new deli on Tompkins near Quincy. I hope it has a good selection of deli foods. It definitely has the best name of any deli I’ve seen. The sign asks, “Are you hungry for a new experience?” Sounds like this place [...]
