Inside Rustik Tavern

This weekend saw the opening (finally!) of Rustik Tavern. It was well worth the wait. It’s warm and spacious, and it’s just what this area of Bed-Stuy needed.
There’s a cool vintage piano in the corner.
It’s got plenty of seating and it has a really nice patio with a pergola.
I got the chance to meet up with the folks from Bed-Stuy Social. We’ve officially christened the place “The Regal Beagle,” and we’ve laid claim to the lounge area in the back near the patio, because it reminds us of the booth where Jack, Larry, Chrissy and Janet used to hang.
I advise you to get yourself over to Rustik Tavern ASAP. You won’t be disappointed!

Yes! I am in the pic! Rustik Tavern is great. But if it’s going to be like The Regal Beagle then we are going to need to have more double-entendre misunderstandings.

ahem. the SELF-PROCLAIMED people’s champion.
the rustik tavern is really nice. it was warm and inviting in that horrible mess of weather friday and also looks to be a ton of fun in warm weather. hello- large outdoor area! anyway… good times.
ps. we will need RF in the mix, too, for maximum double entendre misunderstandings.

I know a lot of little kids who cheat at Uno. It is simultaneously amusing and horrifying.

Dan, technically Clinton Hill starts at Classon, but I have heard some real estate people push it to Franklin.

I think it would be sad if the Rustik Tavern became a hang out only for “recent transplants.” I hope it draws a mix of people.

Dan: Due to the increased popularity of Bed-Stuy, the border of the neighborhood has moved west to include the neighborhoods f/k/a Clinton Hill, Fort Greene, Downtown Brooklyn and Brooklyn Heights. We had the option to control Bushwick and W’burg but, upon further consideration, decided to pass - for now - on taking possession of them.

Of course it doesn’t make me feel bad when a business is patronized by only long-term bed stuy residents. That’s ridiculous.
Tiny Cup, for example, draws a mix of people. Most are young, but some are old, some are black, some white, some asian, some have kids, some don’t. Those pictures above, though, don’t reflect that kind of mixture. It looks like just another hipster coffee shop in Williamsburg where everyone is under 25. Sorry, but I know I am not the only one here who would be sad to see the neighborhood turn into that. And I’m not even a long-term Bed-Stuy resident. Just weary of all the rich kids who come to NY from the midwest looking for a couple years of “experience.” OK?

c, i hesitated to even respond to your comment because it really is so terribly misguided. you are projecting an awful lot into ONE picture of ONE table of people at a bar.
i don’t want to see it become a hipster coffee shop either. i dislike that idea for the same reasons you do. i hope the rustik tavern flourishes and everybody who’s part of this neighborhood can walk in and feel comfortable. but in the meantime, people are going to have to actually put their money where their mouth is and go and support it and make it that eclectic mix.
and another thing: i WISH i was rich. i’m not under 25. or 30 for that matter. and i’m not from the midwest. and though i may be a “recent transplant” to bed-stuy i’ve lived in NYC for 13 years and it is my home. but go on and keep thinking you know everything based on a picture.

Hey went to Rustik food was great had the triple turkey mini burgers and the drinks where ok also most of these place are on the bedstuyblog and also on shopbedstuy.com

laduchessa, I’m sorry that my comment made you upset. I really like this neighborhood, and I wish the best for the new bars and restaurants that open up. I actually think we agree that a generic hipster cafe would not add much flavor to the area. I’m very happy for you that you have lived here for 13 years. I’ve lived here all my life!

We got in for the first time last night and loved it. This is a great addition to the neighborhood and I’d be in regularly even if I didn’t live literally right around the corner.

Rustik Tavern is the has the best “neighborhood tavern feel” i have every felt! The food is amazing and the drinks are only the best! Did I say I love the ambiance, whether it’s brunch, lunch, or dinner…you must taste it!
