Bed-Stuy Chicken Rescue Has a Happy Ending

This was bound to happen. Every other neighborhood has a chicken walking around like it owns the place, and now, so does Bed-Stuy (or so did Bed-Stuy).

If you haven’t already, PLEASE check out the hilarious story on the excellent blog, Reclaimed Home. This brave Bed-Stuty blogger not only rescued the Bed-Stuy chicken, but she also made sure that the chicken was placed in a nice retirement home upstate! You’ve got to read this story!

And people complain about the lack of fresh meat in this area. Doesn’t get any fresher than that. What’s “in the best interest” of that chicken is to be used to feed a hungry person.

I think that there is a moral to this story. Here you have a chicken that manages to escape from her captors and survive in one of the fried chicken-lovin’-est places in New York. And you think the odds are stacked against YOU? It just goes to show that with a little bit of risk-taking, a whole lot of smarts, and enough sense to take advantage of the help that is provided to you for free, you to can live out the remainder of your life comfortably. There are a lot of people who could learn a thing or two from that chicken.

Besides that, I thought it was nice to read that someone had been sent upstate for something other than a conviction.

Why did the chicken cross the road?

To get the hell away from Crown Fried Chicken??
