Bring in the Spring Family Workshops and Festivities April 22-April 26
Ages 5 and Up
Come to Weeksville for this fun Spring celebration April 22-26th. Learn about the Brooklyn landscape through nature, art workshops, cooking, and juicing demonstrations for families. Explore Weeksville’s garden during the Spring Scavenger Hunt.
Tuesday, April 22 – Celebrate Earth Day at Weeksville Heritage Center
Start Your Own Kitchen Garden – 12:00pm-12:30pm
Choose an herb and decorate the pot to start your own windowsill garden. Learn about the benefits of having houseplants and herbs in your home.
Earth Day Film Screening – 12:30-1:00pm
Discover a new perspective of contemporary life on earth. Enjoy a short film screening for all ages
Juicing Workshop – 1:00-1:30pm
Learn how to make delicious lemonades and juices with Karenga Arifu owner of Brooklyn’s Jakada Juice

Craft your own unique paper with the guidance of Weeksville educators, using colorful materials and organic materials.

Brooklyn Children’s Museum On-The-Go at Weeksville Heritage Center: Wildlife Detectives in the Garden – 12:00pm and 1:00pm
Marvel at the wonders of wildlife in the springtime as you investigate animal evidence such as nests, molts, eggs, and tracks. Meet a scaly animal from the Museum’s collection and investigate a mystery specimen left behind by an animal. Take home an animal craft.

Reclaim the night in central Brooklyn by exploring the spring constellations at Weeksville, where the historic landscape provides unadulterated views of the night sky. Learn about astronomy and its importance to Weeksville’s former inhabitants

• Make a Star Finder- a low tech tool for finding constellations.
