Anything gose needs to STOP… What makes Bedford Stuyvesant nice is the victorian architecture. That is also what makes Brooklyn Heights, Ft Greene, Clinton Hill and Park Slope so appealing. Too many people are ruining the neighborhood architecturally… We need to stop with the parking of cars in brownstone yards people painting there brownstones crazy colors that is destroying the façades of these great houses. I really want to lead a campaign on preserving the architecture of the neighborhood. My block is somewhat protected because of landmarks. I keep hearing that they are going to landmark more blocks but they have been saying this for the past 10 years. I think I need help to fight the city to landmark beautiful streets like Jefferson, Hancock, Macon etc… I don’t want to see the Home Depot cheap buildings with Fedders air conditioning units in front anymore… Those buildings should all be torn down they are just plan ugly. But it seems like people in the neighborhood don’t care I can’t explain it… I really frustrated at all the new construction that is going on. We should first put a little time and money in renovating the great old architecture that is already here… Sorry for venting just feel like I am fighting a up hill battle sometimes….
Morgan: I couldn’t agree with you more! Know that you are NOT the only one trying to get the historic district expanded and there are others who love the architecture of the area and are doing their best to save it from the wrecking ball and the fugly buildings that rise out of the empty lots.
Newbie2,
I am going to see if there is a Bedford Stuyvesant preservationist group if not I think we should start one up… What do you think?
Morgan: I would be glad to help you. I think there is a pre-existing organization. Let me see what I can google. I’ll get back to you on this post.
ok great…. If there is a group we might need to put some fire under them
count me!
