  • Yet Another Rally Against Violence: Al Sharpton joined parents of Chanel Petro-Nixon (a 16 year old who was murdered in Bedford-Stuyvesant in 2006) to protest teen shootings. Apparently all the rallying in the world doesn’t stop a people from destroying themselves and their community. [Daily News]

In the meantime, enjoy this video from the Stop the Violence Movement. My favorite line is from Kool Moe Dee: “I never ever ran from the Ku Klux Klan and I shouldn’t have to run from a black man.” Nearly twenty years later black folks are singing the same refrain.

  • More of the Same: Somebody got shot. Read on if you’re interested. [Daily News]
  • Skip To My Loo: A public toilet is coming to Marcus Garvey Boulevard and Broadway. Let’s take bets on how quickly it turns into a re-creation of the old CBGB’s bathroom! [amNY]
  • Images of the Big Easy: Bed-Stuy Social heads down to Nawlins and gets some beautiful photos of the Big Easy. [Bed-Stuy Social]
