Wow Gates Ave. shooting – surprise, surprise. And sadly I’m sure the victims weren’t even the intended targets.
Yeah, it’s really sad. I’m so tired of these knuckleheaded stories about knuckleheaded individuals who feel the need to carry guns and shoot anyone who threatens their masculinity.
ugh. that really sucks…
chris rock said it best in “bigger and blacker” when he said “all bullets should cost $5,000. that way there’d be no more innocent by-standers.”
they’re having trouble getting any of the *200* guests at the bbq to give any info about the shooting. word is the woman who died may have been used as a human shield by the intended target. i understand not trusting the cops, but what about zeanie white’s family or friends? do they just shrug and say ‘oh well, nothing we can do about it’?
That’s a damn shame. Let me see someone get shot! I’m namin’ names!
WHY ARE YOU SHOWING THE CORNER OF MADISON AND TOMPKINS THATS NOT HWRE IT TOOK PLACE ALSO WHY ARE YOU SHOWING THAT SHOP IT MAY GIVE IT A BAD NAME
I added the location info under the picture so that people unfamiliar with the neighborhood wouldn’t get mixed up and think that the shooting occurred at the corner pictured. I didn’t intend to connect the picture and the link about the shooting. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
And Irving, for the record I think that this shooting gives the whole Bed-Stuy neighborhood a bad name, so Pee Wee’s is already brought down by the fact that it’s located here.
They should have metal detectors at these bbqs.
for the record i didn’t associate the photo with the shooting story; it’s actually a nice counterpoint.
A HOME BBQ WITH METAL DETECTORS
I think you’re right, Jimmy Legs. The photo and the sad story really illustrate the two Bed-Stuys that exist.
Irving and Alexa, I think the problem is that people try to throw these huge parties and they invite their friends and family and tell them that they can bring anyone they want. I bet you that the people throwing the party probably never met some of the people at the party. Unless you’re throwing a party at a venue with security, you should never have a gathering and not know everyone who is in attendance.
I’m also not surprised that they haven’t gotten information on the shooter. I know everyone wants to say it’s a “don’t snitch” thing, but I think that when the shots occurred everyone just went for cover and they weren’t concerned about who was shooting. The people who were nearest to the person shooting probably had something to do with the shooting, so there’s no surprise that they aren’t speaking up.
The “Don’t snitch” is alive & well! God forbit if a nabe 3yr old boy/girl is killed by stray bullet by gun fire; will the “Don’t snitch” rule; still apply!???
911NewYorker, I appreciate your taking the time to post a comment, but your behavior is borderline trollish. Stop putting your comments on 2-3 week old posts. If you have something to say, then say it loud and proud and stop trying to put your message out on the backpages of this blog. Either get with the program or get banned.
Sorry, just returned from vacation! had no idea there was a time limit on topic comment postings!!!
There isn’t, really. Your comments are provocative, so if they were placed on current posts they would probably stimulate more discussion.
