MXB Rising

Intrigued by recent comments about developments on Malcolm X Boulevard, I took a walk over there last Friday. Here’s what I saw:

Flea Market and Food on Saturdays at Janes United Methodist Church, corner of Monroe. It’s also a venue for other events, such as the Central Brooklyn Jazz Consortium’s annual festival.

One thing I noticed was [...]

Sucre Coffee Jazz Lounge

I was walking along Dekalb a few days ago and I noticed a yellow awning that I’d never seen before. The awning read “Sucre Coffee Jazz Lounge.” Is this a new spot on Dekalb, or is this an old place that closed a long time ago?

A Local Place for Local People

The third outpost in Craig Samuel’s restaurant mini-empire, which includes The Smoke Joint and Lil Pig in Fort Greene, Peaches perfectly expresses the comfortable yet elegant vibe of its Stuyvesant Heights location.
