A reader sent me information on a website that she’s been working on called Know the Facts Bed-Stuy.

Several organizations came together with support from local council members initially to help prevent loan scams. Now the website provides free confidential online counseling to people who have already been victimized by predatory lending.

Please pass this information along to any of your neighbors who may be in danger of losing their homes!

I love this picture. Tell the kids to come over and learn by math is so important. Or else there will be yet another generation in foreclosure. LOL! “Hey Boy, those video games ain’t gonna help you much.”

  2. Fitz says:

    ok…learn why.

  3. The Changeling says:

Fitz, I used to think it was math literacy that was important here too, but I think we can make it even simpler than that. As long as you know that
    1) no one, NO ONE, who comes to you with an offer of money is legit, and
    2) don’t sign anything you don’t understand unless you have your own lawyer there to interpret the goobledegook for you

then you’ll be fine. And I wish they’d shown those kids hittin’ some books rather than playing those damn videogames.

  4. Fitz says:

    Right On!

  5. Agree, Changeleing. If it looks free, it ain’t. If it looks too good to be true, it is.

    Much peace to you.

Thanks, hustleandfloe! BTW, I’m glad to hear more pep in your step–I’m sure that you’ll be all healed and back in fine form on the basketball court come spring! :)

I’ve heard of them before, they are legitimate. Sponsored by a council member and sponsors are HUD certified. I think it is great that they are giving back to the community, especially when so many of us are losing our homes.
