What Else Is In the Teaches of Peaches?

Since its opening this summer, Peaches Market at 393 Lewis Avenue has become one of those remarkable restaurants that both becomes and transforms its surroundings. Like an idyllic romance, Peaches and “SoLa” (Shops of Lewis Avenue for those in the know) feel like they’ve known each other for much longer than their 6 month tenure together; each highlights and represents the best of the other. But, as Woody Allen would advise, “a relationship is like a shark…it has to constantly move forward or it dies.”

Luckily for us, on January 19th and 20th, transformation is coming to Peaches and SoLa.

Some Highlights:

Two back-to-back brunches for MLK and Obama on the 19th and the 20th. D.C.’s balls have nothing on NYC’s  inaugural brunches! Each brunch runs from 11:30-3:30. Don’t forget to order a “Not So Dry President” to drink with your weeday party meal. And, I must point out that MLK Day is a Monday, so this opening will be overturning the standing mathematical formula that as the week approaches Monday, the chances of dining out in the neighborhood approach 0–now that’s a change I can get behind!

A four course prix fixe Inaugural Dinner menu that delightfully includes the incoming president’s favorite high-brow green: Arugula! For the entire mouth watering menu, $50 without wine-pairings, $60 with the libations, click here.

A screening of Any Given Tuesday in Brooklyn, a locally produced documentary that treats Brooklyn’s role in and response to this historic election, followed by watching the inauguration on a large drop-down projector screen.

And finally, my personal favorite, this is a Black-tie event folks! And there will be dancing! Now that’s a class act, but if anyone could pull it off, it would be Peaches. Look up the invitation here, and check back next week for pictures.
