Join us for the opening reception on Friday, March 6th from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. Free beer (while it lasts). Please RSVP to gallery@3rdward.com.

On Sunday March 8th, Moviehouse Mixes it up! Existing footage is dissected, edited and altered into something new and never seen. Created in collaboration with guest curator, Blanca De La Torre, the show features the unreal animation of Rob Carter and the amazing appropriated videos of Christoph Draeger.
Then(!) wrap up your weekend and the Bushwick SITE performance festival with an AFTER PARTY! Festival goers, Moviehouse lovers and Sunday blues busters are invited to dance the night away to the video rhythms of VJ Clay Franklin. Featuring a very special live video performance by Elena Demyanenko and Itsiar Barrio, drinks and eats. RSVP to moviehouse@3rdward.com
Film Details
Metropolis – Rob Carter
This quirky and abridged narrative history of Charlotte, NC captures the development of one of the fastest growing American cities with stop motion video animation. Physically manipulated aerial still images of the city (both real and fictional), create a landscape in constant motion. Made entirely from images printed on paper, the animation literally represents this sped up urban planners dream. The video travels into an imagined hubristic future, of more and more skyscrapers, sports arenas and a suffering environment – capturing our paper-thin significance, no matter how many monuments of steel, glass and concrete we build.
Apocalypse Now – Christoph Draeger/Martin Frei
Explore your fascination with breaking, exploding, and drowning & analyze our notions of fear, horror, death and the afterlife through the fractured lens of cinema. Apocolype Now investigates the themes of disaster and catastrophe by slicing together snippets from 50 films using found footage.
