When I first moved to Bed-Stuy, I recall hearing (and reading) comments from a lot of residents regarding the dearth of flower shops in the area. Now that Creative Blossoms has opened up shop on Lewis Avenue, I hope that the community will offer strong financial support for this business. This is a wonderful addition to the Bed-Stuy business community.
The flower shop and garden center is located at 370 Lewis Avenue at Macon Street in Stuyvesant Heights.
The shop had its grand opening a week ago.
Estelle Harris, owner/buyer and head floral designer, says “I am very excited and humbled by the positive feedback from the community. My initial idea to provide a uniquely positioned service has morphed into a personal commitment to being an integral member of the Lewis Avenue merchant communityâ€. Harris also plans to have an online presence with her Creative Blossoms gardening blog.

I have to go there and buy a watering can! This weekend I ended up using a juice pitcher to feed the daylilies. I’m sure that’s not recommended.
When I stopped by, they didn’t seem to have many plants (as opposed to cut flowers). I would love to be able to buy seeds, bulbs, and plants for window boxes, tree pits and the backyard from a local business. Hopefully, they will add more of these items.
