123 Community Space has done great things for our neighborhood. The folks that run the center have created all kinds of wonderful programs. Here are some of their regularly scheduled events:
*Mondays 7 p.m. Radical Tea Party: Anarcha-feminist Group
*Tuesdays (every other) 7-9 p.m. Political Prisoner Letter-Writing Dinner
*Wednesdays 6-9 p.m. Freegan Bike Workshop
*Fridays 3-6 p.m. After-school Program
*Fridays 6-9 p.m. Open Printshop
*Saturdays 12 p.m. Food Not Bombs Meal Prep (Meal at 3pm at Tompkins Park)
*Saturdays 2-5 p.m. Freegan Bike Workshop
*Saturdays 8:45 p.m. North Bed-Stuy Copwatch Meet-up
*Sundays (except 3rd Sunday) 5-7 p.m. General Meeting
Unfortunately, 123 Community Space is being harassed by their landlords. Their landlords want them out of the space and have been threatening them with eviction. (Why would anyone want to remove a community center from their building?) In any case, 123 is not taking this lying down. They are taking their landlords to court and they’ve even started a blog as a sort of diary of their experience: 123evictionblog.wordpress.com.
Tonight they are having a WE’RE NOT GOING ANYWHERE cookout party and MC Showcase, so come on out and support our much needed community center.
