Saraghina Lives Up to the Hype

Inquisigal and I got there just before the dinner rush. Soon the place would be packed.

Wonderful, wonderful pizza! This was definitely the best that I’ve had in NYC. Yeah, that’s right, I said it. Best in NY. And no, I’ve never been to Grimaldi’s.

I never knew that pizza was supposed to taste this good! Every pizza that I’ve ever eaten was either hard and crusty or too bready. Saraghina gets it just right. Their crust is not too hard and not too soft. I had the Capocollo.

For those of you who made it there on the opening night (and there were A LOT OF YOU), how did you find Saraghina?

Our previous posts on Saraghina are here and here.

What are their hours? They do not have any posted. Phone number to call in pick-up orders?

I believe they open at 5:30 p.m., but I’m not sure when they close. As far as I know they are open every evening.

The people getting pick up orders last night were coming in, placing their orders and then waiting for them. You’ll probably be able to call in orders when they post their phone number. We’ll keep a look out for the phone number and if we find out what it is, we’ll post it.

We got there late last night and enjoyed the pizza. I cannot wait until they are open with their fully menu. I was pleased with the pizza and by the time that we arrived, they had run out of a few items. Not a big deal, because, I am certain that they did not expect so many people there. When we got there after 10:00 the place was packed and we had to wait over 20 minutes for a seat.

I LOVED THE PIZZA! I am so happy that some good pizza is a few blocks away. No more Papa John’s for me…YEAH!

Just got back from an attempt at placing a carry-out order. Unfortunately, they said that they cannot accept take-out orders. I mentioned that I thought they had carry-out orders the other night, given Changeling’s comment above, but they said that they didn’t then, either. Oh well – eat in only for now!

Really? I saw people leaving with pizza boxes. Maybe that was just people taking home leftovers, but I could have sworn that some people came in and placed orders…

I have been at Saraghina twice this week.
Edoardo is doing a great job at the oven and Chicco is a great host.
I had a great time and an excellent pizza.
                      I’m italian and I live in Bed-Stuy.
This is a great plus for Bed-Stuy; not that many real pizzas in NYC; forget Grimaldi that’s not italian pizza.
Go to Saraghina and enjoy. I’m sure I will see you there

this place is great. i was so pleased to be there on the night of the opening. the place was packed, and the owners were friendly and apologetic for the delay. this pizza is one of the best in the nyc and i was a regular of luzzo’s in manhattan. the neighborhood is thrilled to have such a great meeting place, finally, we won’t have to go to fort greene, clinton hill, williamsburg, or into manhattan to eat something really good. as for the take out questions, they will have some take out in a few weeks when things calm down, i heard the owner say that. i also saw a few pizza’s float out of the restaurant, but these were for their good neighbors across the street who own the deli. I loved the vibe there, neighbors were introducing themselves at the community table that formed. i wish them all the best, and i can’t wait till they open the garden.
