Neglected Community Garden Needs Rescuing

There is a community garden here in the neighborhood, on Gates and Patchen, that has been neglected and is in danger of being closed down. It’s currently owned by the Parks Department, and apparently there has been no activity in it at all.

So if you, or your group, or a group of people you know, are interested in getting a community garden going, this is your chance! It would be great if someone was able to restore this garden and keep it in the hands of the community.

If you wants to learn more about it and find out how to get working on the garden, please contact Bilen Berhanu of GreenThumb at 212-788-8060 and she’ll help you out.

  1. I love that Green Thumb organization. Too bad they aren’t for all of NYS.

  2. You might want to verify the accuracy of this information, and update the post

I spoke with Bilen and she has NO IDEA where this garden is or how this information reached everyone and has been getting a ton of calls.

That number is also not her direct line.
