I'm a fan of Habitat as well. The building on Halsey and Marcus Garvey is really nice looking. I wish that they were given all of the vacant lots in the area so that they could turn them into decent looking, affordable housing. They produce the type of affordable housing that I can support--the kind that focuses on homeOWNERSHIP.

Habitat for Humanity has been able to stand on their own feet thankfully. They are one of the organizations in Newburgh that actually get done what they promise

Habitat for Humanity is one of those extraordinary organizations that has embraced the essential purpose that housing performs in our society: Stable Communities.

It's amazing that of all the developers New York City gets into bed with, this not for profit organization has gotten the least support from elected officials in Brooklyn.

In fact, while there may be more in the burough, I'm only familiar with one development they were involved in building in Brooklyn: Corner of Halsey St and Marcus Garvey Blvd in Bed Stuy.
