The Annual 10K Community Run and Fun Walk is one of the premier 10Ks held in all New York City. Given its proximity to the NYC Marathon, many athletes see Restoration’s 10K as a “warm up†to their long-distance run in November. However, people of all fitness levels and ages are attracted to the race which has become a much anticipated community event. The starting line is at Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Plaza, 1368 Fulton Street, Brooklyn. Bedford-Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation is holding this annual event on Sunday, October 11th, 2009. The race begins at 10:00 a.m.

Has anyone done this before? I think it looks like fun…as I sit here and eat pizza…

You know, I desperately want to do this for the first time this year. I don’t think I’ll be able to do 6 miles, though. Maybe I’ll go half and do the 5K???
The price is so cheap that there’s no reason not to.

Yeah I’m pretty much on the lazy side of things but this is a good way to get back in gear. Its a few months off so I can start preparing to run as much of it as I ca. The track @ Boys & Girls HS is open in the mornings and I’ve totally slacked on going there. I really should try and give this a go. The price is right too!

I am interested in trying this out for the first time, but I have some apprehensions. Can I hear from someone (with a totally honest opinion) about what is involved.

hey nicole,
Well basically its just a race for the community, and honestly a warm up for the big race in November. It used to be a fundraiser for the Health Center but now its just a day of excitement. The race is apart of Resoration’s week long celebration called “BED-STUY ALIVE”. Come out and watch if you don’t think you planning on racing this year.
