Reverse minstrel show! I am a white guy in Bed Stuy and have been in a similar situation with the same population for longer than a few hours, no further detail to be provided. Let me say, those jailmates are as unfamiliar with this white guy and his culture as he was with their culture. Underneath all of the bs bravado of hittin’ that pussy is a culture very tired of having to front. Grown men still acting like teenagers – happens everywhere but in Bed-Stuy it is acute.

I just thought they were trying to communicate on what they figured was the most basic level. Like, if you were meeting up with aliens you would draw the periodic table. Or an internal combustion engine.

I,m a “white guy” what ever that means since I’m really a mixed dog, I’ve been in that same situation several times
but I new the lingo from livi’n the streets in some of Americas roughest cities. It’ true though that it can be a lesson for all parties to understand our differences and similarities. When it’s all boiled down we all got the same needs to get our asses out of confinement and back to the ones that love us.
