Secret Eats in Bed-Stuy?

There’s a restaurant at the back of Chinantla, a Mexican grocery store on Myrtle between Franklin and Skillman. You might not have guessed it from the exterior. I hear it’s good.

Do you have a secret favorite restaurant in Bed-Stuy? A place that is off the beaten path, hidden behind a secret door or maybe hidden in plain view but so uninviting that no one would know what great food is being served there? I never venture into unusual looking restaurants because, well, I’m just not brave enough, but I’m sure some of you know about hidden gems in the hood. What am I missing? Spread the word and help keep these hidden gems in business!

      chinantla’s excellent. definitely. absolutely.

also great: jamaican grill on nostrand.

cozzi pizza #2 is cheap and has some good stuff.

red house has a menu which extends a bit beyond the usual boring chinese-american fare.

myrtle thai is a little inconsistent, but is sometimes great.

tiny cup has amazing breakfast for a reasonable price, and give you a free cookie with a minimum order.

      all of these places deliver.

i really want an indian place nearby to do the same!

John read my mind (or my stomach): Bedstuy is in dire need of some Indian (east Indian, that is) cuisine, even if just a little punjabi take-out joint.

I wouldn’t call it hidden since there’s always a good amount of people on line at this place but I love Royal Rib House on Halsey and Throop. Excellent BBQ and their homemade desserts are amazing. Theyre really only open Thursday-Saturday.

I’ve been meaning to get to the Royal Rib House! Thanks for reminding me!
