Play A Piano At Von King Park

Last week I tweeted about the free piano in a park participatory public art thing, “Play Me, I’m Yours” (here are the Times articles, if you missed them: Piano to the People! and Pianos as Public Art).

I went to check out the one in Von King Park:

I was a little disappointed to note that the piano was not brightly painted like the ones in the Times piece. But it sounds pretty good for a reconditioned street piano that’s been outside 24/7  during the recent heat wave. I guess the new painted decorations on the bandshell benches will have to make up for the piano’s lack of verve.

So, have you played the piano yet? Can you play a piano? What do you think? There are only 10 of these pianos in all of Brooklyn, so I was pleased to see Von King Park got one. It’s only there till July 5, though, so hurry up!
