On Sunday, August 8th the Municipal Art Society will conduct a walking tour of Bedford-Stuyvesant. The tour will start at 10:00 a.m. Meet outside the turnstiles of the Franklin Ave. subway station at the S.W. corner of Fulton and Franklin Streets. The cost is $15 ($10 for MAS members).
From the MAS announcement:
As Harlem is to Manhattan, Bed-Stuy is to Brooklyn—a Victorian era neighborhood that is presently undergoing a dramatic renaissance. Discover some of the finest residential blocks, churches, and apartment houses in New York, as well as sites associated with F.W. Woolworth, Aaron Copland, and Shirley Chisholm, the first black woman elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. Leader: Matt Postal, architectural historian.
This tour is open to the public. More information is available online at http://mas.org/tours. To make reservations, visit http://mas.org/calendar or call (212) 935-2075.

Is there a map anywhere of the actual tour? Thanks, B.
I contacted them to ask about a walking tour map that I could link to, but unfortunately they don’t have one posted anywhere.
Can they give an indication of the general areas they will walk (i.e., will it just be in the area of Fulton and Franklin), how far the tour is (distance-wise), &c.? Thanks for your help!
Sorry I didn’t get many details, but here’s a contact person at the MAS who might be able to answer your questions: Tamara Coombs
