If you’ve never gotten a chance to go on a house tour, you’ve been missing out! This weekend, our neighbors to the south are holding the 4th Annual Crown Heights North House Tour. Here’s the information I received:
The Crown Heights North Association is proud to announce that our 4th annual tour is ready to roll this Saturday, October 2nd. We’ve got 8 houses this year, plus 2 of our gorgeous churches, both among the best in Brooklyn. Most exciting, our houses this year include a magnificent St. Marks Avenue mansion that most people thought was unsalvageable. This year we get to see the work in progress- and it is spectacular. Another CHN exclusive is the double duplex Kinko house, and an American classic Colonial Revival, a new house that rose in an old shell, and more.
Our home base at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, at 991 St. Johns Place, on the corner of Brooklyn Avenue is the starting place for the tour. As before, we are sponsoring an informational fair with representatives of various city agencies and local non-profit groups whose services aid our neighborhood. This year we welcome local vendors who will be selling crafts, artwork, books, and other products.
The Tour kicks off at 10:00 am with our welcoming ceremony. The self guided tour commences from 11-4pm, rain or shine.
Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Tickets will be on sale at Barbara’s Flowers, 615 Nostrand Avenue, Brownstone Books, 409 Lewis Avenue and on line at http://www.wix.com/CHNA2010/CHNA-2010-House-tour. Please see the website for other information about the tour, and the Crown Heights North Association (CHNA), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and development of Crown Heights North.
