OK, you’ve said the magic words: red velvet cake! I’ll definitely have to stop by and try it. I believe that I had some of Ms. Dahlia’s muffins at Inquisigal’s house once and I remember being impressed.

  2. This is a really nice cafe. Any word on the opening of Nobar?

  3. The Changeling says:

I don’t think I’ve heard of Nobar. Is that Anthony Mackie’s new bar?

  4. I believe so, because I and others have spotted him next door to Ms. Dahlia’s on several occasions. But, it was the owner of Ms. Dahlia’s that went to CB3 with the announcement of the plans for the bar and it was she that was met with opposition. :-/

I had a dream last night that I was able to go to a market which sold organic foods /fresh fruits and vegetables and didn’t have to drive to Fort Green for it. In this dream and to my surprise the owner of the store was not outside politicking or gazing at her well traveled Butter Nut Market awning but was actually doing some work..As I tossed and turned in my bed probably due to the part of my dream in which I was savoring the sweet taste of Butternut Markets Farmers choice Mangoes. Later on that evening I informed my wife to be that I would be arriving home late from work and asked if she could stop off at Butter Nut market and pick me some of the products that I dreamed about the previous night. To my chagrin my fiance informed me that Butter Nut market is no more that an aberration. I then proceeded to ask to ask her “Do you mean that I am like all of the followers of this blog who have fallen prey to the owners charm, the belief that illegal workers who seem to be working daily will actually get something done and that the make shif signage which a dawns the front of the once proud Solomons Porch will be taken down and a more permanent signage would take its place ?. Seriously this is an absolute joke, how long does it take to install shelves, build a counter , purchase a register, and identify key producers / vendors that you would like to do business with so that you can offer your customers the finest products ? This is n absolute farce, the people that own this place continue to insult me and the intelligentce of thepeople who both navigate this blog and live in the neighborhood. They have been carrying on this charage of “coming soon “for over two years now . They dont even have the decency to finish their website. Creating a functional website costs no more than 5- 10 k , if you ca’;t come up with that, then how should we expect that you will ever be able to have what it takes to open its doors much less operate a viable business ? Personally I am tired of the games and am suggesting the following, Either open up or step aside so that someone else can finsh the job you seem unwilling or unable to accomplish ? The community truly deserves an expects better

This thread shouldn’t be hijacked to discuss Butternut, but I will say that business owners in NYC have a lot of hoops to jump through just to open their doors. A lot of stuff goes on behind the scenes that we never know about. When an owner looks like they are dragging their feet, it might just be that they are waiting for a permit of some sort. I don’t know the specifics of Butternut, and I’m sure you’re not alone in your frustration, Merak, but I’m hesistant to tell the Butternut folks to “step aside…”
