I went by Tiny Cup last week to order some holiday baked goods and found this note on the door:
To the Tiny Cup Community:
As some of you have heard there are some changes coming to Tiny Cup.
This has been a personally difficult year for me and the decision to move my life in a different direction has been a challenging one. However … after much reflection I have made the choice to turn over the management and ownership of Tiny Cup. This decision has been made easier by my belief that I have found you someone who is truly dedicated, talented and committed to this place and its excellence.
The past three years have been amazing. Watching as you met each other, made plans, formed bands, made art, found jobs, lost jobs, come here with triumphs and for comfort. Some of you have gotten married, some have had children, some have included their pets in our cafe’s culture
. It has been exciting to watch the neighborhood transition into to something I believe to be unique in NYC.
In short … its been a privilege to be a part of all your lives these past three years and while I will miss this place and all of you I feel confident that I have chosen a new owner who best represent the most important part of this place.
Community.
We will close on November 15th. Tiny Cup will reopen in December.
If you’d like to get to know the new owner BEFORE then … please check out her other shop at izzyscoffeeden.com.
As always, my warmest wishes to all of you,
Lisa
Even though it’s been a while since I’ve been a Tiny Cup regular, I’ll miss the banana-nutella muffins and the zucchini chocolate cake and the moroccan mint tea the most!
I hope Lisa sold the recipes to the new owner.
What was your favorite thing about Tiny Cup as it was? What do you hope the new owner will keep or change?

It’s pretty sad… I saw the note yesterday… It was my full day off after a long time and I was planning to spend the most of it in Tiny Cup.
I hope the owner will keep the french toast recipe, internet access and the back room…
I appreciated being able to get “clean” food at a decent price. I also liked that, when she could, Lisa purchased from Hattie Carthan Market. She was also generous with her space for community groups. Good Luck Lisa!
My favorite thing about Tiny Cup was the avocado/brie on a baguette that they recently took off their menu:( Glad they kept moroccan mint tea on their menu…
Hey, what’s the deal with Cinnamon Girl next door to Tiny Cup? New storefront cafe?
I thought they were going to be some kind of natural foods place.
As simple as it was, I loved their BLT (turkey bacon version) with the side salad. It was always fresh and I was never disappointed. Theirs prices were very decent as well.
i am sorry to see lisa moving on, and wish her the best! i also hope that tiny cup continues to thrive and evolve into a place that i want to frequent. to be honest, tc felt like it had been slipping for the past year. the people behind the counter were usually sour faced and the quality of the food was inconsistent. please, please, please make the new tiny cup clean, pleasant, and delicious and it will be a huge success. btw, a perfect recent example of this is bedford hill on franklin, just up the street.
I totally agree with floydcat with regard to the lack luster customer service of late…
The french toast at Tiny Cup was life changing. I’m not kidding when I say that it was the best I’ve ever had. My best to Lisa – she’s a wonderful person and I’m glad she’s able to walk away feeling good about the new owner. We’ll miss you!
