Another Foot of Snow!

This is another one for the record books, in more ways than one.  Reports say this storm was the eighth-largest snowfall in city history, the snowiest January on record and the sixth-snowiest winter in city history.

Winter wonderland at Fulton Park.

Cart Before Horse: A driver needs a helping hand after getting stuck in snow on Bainbridge Street, between Malcolm X Blvd. and Stuyvesant Ave. A plow truck waits right behind the vehicle.

The Walking Dead - Bed Stuy Snow Edition: Morning straphangers stagger towards the A train subway station, choosing to walk the street of Stuyvesant Avenue instead of dodging unshoveled sidewalks.

Main streets were plowed, although some contained a coating of snow and ice. Secondary streets like MacDonough Street were untouched as of this morning.

That first photo is so beautiful! Looks like a postcard.

It was indeed very beautiful at 6 am, but I was happy to hear it was going to be a snow day so I didn’t actually have to go outside and join the walking dead staggering to the train :-)

Great photos! By the time I made it outside it wasn’t as pretty. I want to applaud you all for doing such a wonderful job on covering Bed-Stuy so consistent and effectively. I can tell that you have a vested interest in the community. I write a bi-monthly column (Change for a Dollar) on gentrification in Bed-Stuy over at Patch. I’d love to hear what you guys think, and if you’re ever free to chat over coffee that would be awesome too. Here’s the link to the 5th installment: http://bed-stuy.patch.com/articles/bed-stuys-changing-fabric-more-color-but-less-cover

@SAH: Please do not post unrelated links in the comments section of this blog. This is a post about whiteness blanketing the neighborhood while gentrification is about…oh wait.

In any case, your links are only tangentially related at best, so stop looking to get easy click throughs.

@ Changeling: Wow, that was not my intention. I apologize if that’s how it came across or if it was interpreted that way. I don’t see the option to delete it. Please do me the favor and delete it along with this one. Thanks.
