The organization We Make Us Better has been doing some great things for the neighborhood. I just received this email about their community walk taking place tonight:
We Make Us Better is asking all men in the Bedford Stuyvesant Community to stand up and take a leadership role in the protection of our neighborhood by joining us on our next Community Walk Thursday April 21, 2011 at 7:00pm. We will be walking around Bed-Stuy discussing issues of safety and creating plans to protect the well-being of our wives and children. This walk will also focus on the DA Safe Surrender campaign that allows those in our community with minor summons or desk tickets to have the charges vacated.

We Make Us Better is a Grassroots Men’s organization dedicated to increasing the responsibility taken by Black and Latino males in our households, our community and our society. We seek to provide positive role models for our youth, raise the standards for our fathers while restoring a sense of fraternity and self determination amongst our men.
