Ready to Dine

Are you ready to dine?

Bed-Stuy has had the nickname “Do or Die” for years now, but a better nickname, at least for Bedford Avenue, would be Do or Dine.  It looks like a brand new restaurant has figured this out and has adopted this new nickname for itself.  Do or Dine, located at 1108 Bedford Avenue (between Quincy and Lexington), opened its doors on Friday.  Although their awning mentions West Indian American dishes (it’s the awning left behind by the previous tenant), Do or Dine offers a broad range of cuisines.  New American? Check. Traditional American? Check. Cajun/Creole? Check. Italian? Check.  It looks like the culinary team of  Luke Jackson, George McNeese and Justin Warner made sure not to leave any cuisine off of the menu.

The owners said that they opened the place because they “got tired of stumbling home drunk and eating bodega food and Crown Fried Chicken.”  Seems like a good enough reason for us!

You can see some shots of the interior as they prepared for their opening by taking a peek at their Facebook page.

Did anyone get the chance to try out Bedford’s newest restaurant?  If not, then head over and check it out for yourself today. They open this evening at 5:00 p.m.  Oh yeah, and be sure to report back by leaving your review in the comments section!

you should have included some interior shots because they did a beautiful job with the space. my gripe is that if you are doing the fresh, seasonal menu thing, (which i’m very glad to see here) then you’ve got to keep the prices around the 7-12 dollar mark, a la diner, marlow, etc…
fish and chips at 18.00 a plate is overpriced for any neighborhood and i was hoping for this to be a place that makes it easy to be a regular. lower the prices by a few dollars or increase the portions just a bit, then we’ve got a hit!

I really wish I could’ve gotten some interior shots, but I stopped by too early in the day. Brownstoner got some though:

It looks nice inside. I agree about the prices though, and I’m not one to gripe about prices unless I feel that you’re really pushing it. Better prices will encourage us to stop by more often.
